Dungarees + Squeegees https://ift.tt/Qm9YbUl Dungarees + Squeegees (D+S) is a Shropshire based screenprinting studio run by design duo, Ash and Joey. Together, they design, make, and print t-shirts, totes, posters, stickers, and more, while also creating bespoke prints for other creatives. Ash and Joey both gained graphic design degrees from Lincoln, where they truly fell in love with printing (and each other). Other artists that work with the pair – Daisy, Nemo, and Alice – also come from the same University of Lincoln background, but since graduating are now based across the UK. They tell us; “We all have a passion for print. Living in a digital world, it’s great to get our hands dirty and not be confined by briefs”. The idea of creating a collaborative screenprinting studio began at university, where they started selling the work they had created in their third year. Four years later, the duo have a small space, just outside Shrewsbury. It holds a six head carousel for t-shirt and tote bag printing, a vacuum paper press for cards and posters, and finally a cast iron book press for relief printing. Ash and Joey also go to print fairs and meet other artists, as well as selling their work on their website. D+S regularly produce limited edition tees printed on soft, organic cotton. This not only keeps the cost down, but also reduces their environmental impact. “My favourite t-shirt so far is our ‘I am Very Tired’ Cat design original linocut by Daisy Stimpson,” says Ash. Their unique tie dye totes are a customer favourite with their colourful and high quality design. Recently, Ash and Joey have been experimenting with cyanotypes using imagery of flowers creating peaceful and serene luxury paper prints. In addition to their print shop, the pair also offer bespoke, custom print for businesses and creative folk. Local cafe, Shrewsbury Coffee House, recently commissioned them to produce 3 colour t-shirts and totes to sell in their shop. “A local artist illustrated the shop front and it’s great to collaborate within the community,” comment the pair. They also promote their values as an eco-conscious brand, educating and promoting their clients on their choices to better the planet. D+S is a purpose-driven business looking to benefit the community and the planet. Joey works in responsible business and helps D+S strive to be environmentally focused and support the local community. They are net zero in scope 1 & 2, and actively promote protecting wildlife in the local area. All of their goods are sourced from eco-conscious brands, and all orders are sent out in plastic-free postage packages. The duo only screen print with water-based inks which has little effect on the environment. All of their clothing products are printed on Stanley and Stella garments, who strive for sustainability and transparency within their products. D+S totes are locally sourced, 100% natural cotton and compostable. Their paper stock is from G.F Smith papers who are known for their low environmental impact in manufacturing. Looking to the future, the duo hope to further expand and have a larger collaborative space to invite creative folk to print. Ash loves visiting and being part of print fairs, meeting artists and sharing their passion for screen printing. He hopes to recreate this vibe within the collaborative space, while also having low to no environmental impact. www.dandsstudio.com Printing via People of Print https://ift.tt/VQD4iCX May 26, 2022 at 06:22AM Auto Glass Giant Saint-Gobain Cuts Costs & Lead Time with BCN3D 3D Printers https://ift.tt/yzvD2Kq Automotive glass is one of those extremely mundane-sounding sectors that’s nonetheless indispensable to the stability of global supply chains.
