Twitter Debuts Enhanced Audience Analytics Tools for Content Marketing and Events: Twitter will make it easier for publishers “to better understand what sort of content is resonating with [their] readers” with a new audience analytics dashboard. The new publisher dashboard will offer brands insights and analytics on who’s reading and engaging with their content on Twitter, when it’s being viewed, and which content is working best. The goal is to allow publishers to optimize what they produce to make it more effective. (2:31)
Twitter also announced plans to debut a separate dashboard that will specifically track real-time information around events happening now and in the future. This will include breaking news events, as well as things like conferences, shows, and so forth. Twitter Introduces New Program for Testing Up-and-Coming Features: In the coming weeks, Twitter is launching a new beta program in which a group of select users will be granted access to new, nearly complete features through a stand-alone app. Participants will be asked to try the up-and-coming features, share screenshots with others, and discuss them, and then provide feedback to Twitter. Some of the features being tested include color-coded replies, algorithmically sorted replies, and removal of engagement buttons. Twitter is also testing conversation starter tweets and status updates for profiles, which were introduced in October 2018 through this program.

TweetDeck Allows Users to Schedule Tweets With Videos or Multiple Images: Twitter-owned TweetDeck announced that users can now schedule tweets with videos or multiple images from within the platform. Previously, social media managers would have to use other third-party social management platforms to do this. (18:11)
Twitter Ends Support of Grid-Style Embedded Collections: Along with the ability to schedule tweets with multiple images or videos on TweetDeck, Twitter also announced it will stop supporting grid-style embedded collections in the next 30 days. After February 8, 2019, previously embedded collections will simply render as timelines. (21:42)
Twitter Expands Chronological Timeline to Android Users: Last month, Twitter released a new Sparkle button for its iOS app that allows users to easily toggle between an algorithmic timeline and a chronological timeline. This past week, Twitter expanded this feature to Android users. (23:11)
Instagram Debuts Option to Share Posts to Multiple Accounts: Instagram added the ability to simultaneously publish feed posts to multiple accounts you control from within the composer screen. An Instagram spokesperson confirms this option is rolling out to all iOS users. However, there’s no word when it will be available for Android users or extended to Stories. (31:15)
Instagram Updates API to Include Video Scheduling: Last month, Instagram updated its API to allow direct video scheduling through third-party social media management tools. Previously, the Instagram API limited users to scheduling only single-image posts. With this update, account owners and managers can schedule video posts to Instagram without having to use workarounds like setting an alert or reminder to manually post the video through the Instagram app. (37:04)
