To promote the nature of real-time news on its platform, Twitter is turning to one of its more unfiltered, famous users — U.S. president Donald Trump.
The social network is plastering his likeness on its billboard ads all over Tokyo's railway stations, accompanied by the hashtag #TrumpAdministration (トランプ政権) and a catchphrase: "There is a 'now' you don't know about."
Trump has said before he's had to turn to the 140-character platform to broadcast the "truth," to fend off reports about him he feels are inaccurate.
Earlier this week, Trump also told the FT: "Without the tweets, I wouldn't be here. I have over 100 million followers [on social media]...I don't have to go to the fake media."
He has 27.4 million followers on Twitter alone.
