Pete Souza has mastered the art of throwing shade, and he's turned his talent into another book deal.
After Donald Trump took office, the former White House photographer transformed his Instagram account into a beautiful reminder of the Obama years. Whenever Trump did something Souza disagreed with he'd post a photo from when Obama was in office to show the contrast between the two administrations.
Followers loved Souza's Trump shade so much that he's decided to turn it into a book titled: Shade: A Tale of Two Presidents.
On Wednesday, Reagan Arthur, Senior VP and Publisher of Little, Brown and Company, announced Souza's compendium of shade will arrive on Oct. 16, 2018.
It will reportedly tell the story of the Obama and Trump presidencies "through a series of powerful visual juxtapositions," and compare the two men much like the photographer does on Instagram.
"During the past year, I have been as distressed as anyone by the lies and hate emanating from the current administration. I began to use my personal Instagram account to throw shade at what was happening in the White House," Souza explained in a press release. "Since then, I’ve been inspired by the comments I’ve received from many people who have posted on Instagram, sent me emails, or talked to me at my speaking events around the country."
Though Souza apparently had no idea what "throwing shade" meant until media outlets (like Mashable) started writing about him, he's come to learn and embrace his ability to provide political criticism while simultaneously taking Americans on a trip down memory lane.
Souza’s already shared many stunning images of President Obama in his book, Obama: An Intimate Portrait, which came out in Nov. 2017, so it will be interesting to see how he packages this one.
Trump, feel free to throw out your all your sunglasses, because it sounds like Souza's about to deliver enough shade to last you a lifetime.
