Instagram's 'Pinned Comments' feature is now available to everyone

If you're trying to inject some positivity into your Instagram posts, the new Pinned Comments feature could help. The feature, which Instagram started testing back in May, is now officially available everywhere.

Instagram's VP of Product, Vishal Shah, took to Twitter to announce that you can now pin a few (of what will likely be your favorite) comments to the top of the comments thread on your posts.

This is just one of a few new features Instagram announced a few months back to help limit the harassment and bullying that goes on throughout the social media app. Other features include the ability to delete comments in bulk and choose who can tag and mention you on specific posts.

To access the Pinned Comments feature, you'll have to first make sure you've updated your Instagram app to the latest version. Then, tap on any of your Instagram posts and head to the comments section. Once you've found a specific comment you want to pin, swipe to the left and tap on the thumbtack icon.

You can pin up to three comments to the top of your post at a time, all of which will appear right underneath your photo with a "Pinned" label underneath it. If you try to pin more than three, you'll receive a notification reminding you of the limit.

But you can easily swap out pinned comments for new ones. To unpin a comment, simply swipe to the left and tap on the thumbtack icon again.

But it's important to note each user receives a notification if their comment is pinned. So, you might want to really think about whose compliments you're choosing to place front and center.

Regardless, perhaps the ability to pin comments might encourage more people on Instagram to want to post nice ones in the hopes that theirs will get pinned to the top — a very tall order, I know, but a girl can dream.
