Danny DeVito's cardboard cutout game is strong.
After a hardcore fan, Allison Closs, took a cardboard cutout of the actor as her escort to prom, DeVito responded in the best way — by making a cardboard cutout of the teen and bringing it to set with him.
Rob McElhenney, DeVito's It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia co-star, shared photographic evidence of the cardboard cutout on Instagram, writing, "Hey Allison- I heard you took cardboard Danny to Prom. What a coincidence. He took cardboard Allison to Paddy's..."
Closs also shared a photograph of her and cardboard Danny having a blast in a photobooth at prom, captioning the snapshots, "A night I'll never forget." Precious.
After realizing her prom date was recognized by the It's Always Sunny cast, Closs tweeted she was "shooketh," and explained it's been a lifelong dream of hers to visit Paddy’s Pub.
In a YouTube video, Closs went on to share what inspired her to take the cardboard cutout as her date to prom.
"I was having trouble finding a prom date... I couldn't find myself a date in real life or with an actual human," she said, "So I bought one on Amazon."
The DeVito cutout reportedly cost Closs $100, she borrowed a tie from her brother's closet, and invested in a square scooter, which she duct taped the cutout to and attached a leash for easy mobility.
"I have always loved Danny. I loved him on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, I loved him in Hercules and Matilda. I just love him in every form he takes," she said. "Danny was there for me when I really needed him. He treats me the way a woman should be treated."
So stop stressing about finding the perfect human to take to prom, as you can see it looks like cardboard cutouts are the way to go.
