3 tips for boosting your business’s social media engagement

When it comes to running a successful social media strategy, aiming for high engagement should definitely be at the top of your priorities. Engagement is a social media metric that at its core is the basis of social media itself. Social media is used to engage—with friends, celebrities, brands.

In fact, engagement is so important that Facebook now uses meaningful engagement as a key factor in it’s algorithm when prioritizing the distribution of posts. What this means is that if you don’t have good engagement, your posts won’t be seen, and if your posts aren’t being seen, you’re losing out on the opportunity to connect with your customers and make sales.

TL;DR, engagement matters!

Looking to get better engagement on your posts? Try these 3 things and see the likes, comments, and shares roll in:

  1. Share other people’s content

Sharing other people’s content is a simple, and underutilized, way of diversifying your content and getting more engagement to your page.

Think of the last time you saw an Instagram account that was made up entirely of selfies. An account like this shows that the user is pretty self-centered and after a while, the feed gets pretty boring to look at and engage with. This is true for your business as well. Exclusively posting your own brand’s content tells your audience that you are more interested in showcasing yourself than contributing to the social community.

When you share content that is relevant to your audience, you are showing that you care about their interests, but are also encouraging reciprocity from the source that you share from. You share my post, and I share yours…and sharing equals more engagement.

  1. Run a Scheduled Facebook Live

Facebook lives scream engagement! They produce 6x as many engagements as traditional videos, and are much more cost effective when it comes to video production.

With Facebook Live, the idea is simple; set up a webcam and talk to your audience in a way that is natural and authentic. The one problem, Facebook Lives are just that—live. If a user misses it, they miss it, and you lose out on that potential engagement. That is where scheduled Facebook Lives come in.

When you schedule your Facebook live, you give your audience the ability to RSVP to your session and prepare comments related to the topic you are speaking about, which encourages more viewers and more live engagement.

  1. Put a little money into it

Boosted posts are a great way to get your content in front of the right eyes. The more people who see your post, the more likely your posts are going to get more engagement.

If your goal is maximizing engagement, when boosting posts, be sure to optimize your ad for engagement. This optimization tells the social media platform to deliver your posts to users who are more likely to engage with your post.

Additionally, you can use your business’s Facebook pixel to retarget users who are highly engaged on your website. These users that engage with your brand on your website are more likely to engage with your brand’s posts on social media.

As a business, engagement is one of the key ways to measure whether or not you are making a connection with your customers. This is why focusing on maximizing your engagement should be a key part of your social media strategy.

So, go get engaging.
