Exercise Stick Trains Your Muscles With Light-Based Feedback http://ift.tt/2v6arsS Exercise Stick Trains Your Muscles With Light-Based FeedbackDisruptive Force designed an exercise stick that uses LED lights to help users understand how to exert the correct amount of force in their workouts When someone wants to start working out, they need to understand the appropriate form for performing exercises to get the most benefit from their routine and avoid injury. Disruptive Force, a fitness technology startup, developed the Axon exercise stick to help those interested in working out have a physical representation of their progress. The smart fitness tool shows how much exerted force a user puts into it and allows them to practice the correct form while training. A person works out with Axon by pushing the sensing end of the device against a sturdy object—a wall, the floor or even a tree trunk. The training stick’s sensing end contains LED lights, which turn white to show the amount of force a person places on it. During a training exercise, the user watches the white LEDs to chase the yellow guidance lights that represent their goal. The stick alerts the user that a goal has been met by changing yellow lights to green. The five-foot training stick weighs 10 pounds, making it a light-weight instrument to incorporate into different exercises. Axon comes with a companion app containing exercise instructions. If a user discovers a new exercise, they can add it to the app themselves and include it in their routine. More than one person can use a single Axon device, as the companion app allows for multiple accounts. The app features four different training categories: primer, mobility, strength and recovery. Before starting a session, the user customizes the intensity of their training, including selecting the number of reps, the target force for each rep and how long they hold the rep before returning to a neutral position. The app collects data during the session to present in a graph to show how well the person did in their workout compared to their goal. Disruptive Force started a Kickstarter campaign for Axon with a goal of $50,000. For a backer to receive the Axon, they would have to pledge at least $229. If the Kickstarter campaign succeeds, backers should receive their Axon training sticks in August 2018. Mobile Marketing via PSFK http://www.psfk.com/ July 28, 2017 at 07:00AM

Augmented Reality Arcade Brings Go-Karting To The Next Level http://ift.tt/2uEyn6n Augmented Reality Arcade Brings Go-Karting To The Next LevelParticipants in this multiplayer go-kart game compete to pick up virtual coins before other players do The 3rd Planet, an arcade in Japan with a focus on virtual reality games, has a new game available to customers called Hado Kart—a multiplayer go-kart arena where participants play in an augmented reality environment. Hado Kart players ride real go-karts in a small arena where they attempt to pick up virtual coins before other players do, while also avoiding virtual bombs. The winner of the competition gathers up the most coins to receive the highest score. Each player wears a Microsoft HoloLens headset through which they can see the coins, bombs and other players’ scores. The game only allows for three players to compete at once. Hado Kart was developed by Meleap, a Japanese company specializing in combing augmented reality technology with other wearable devices. The smart locker system acts like a community mailbox commonly found in some neighborhoods, except it accepts packages of varying sizes rather than leaving them in front of a person’s home. When a courier delivers the package to the SnapLocker, the package’s recipient receives a notification of its arrival. They can freely retrieve the package at their leisure, accessing it with a QR code on their phone. Cleveron has several different models of the parcel service, with the SnapLock model only having the capacity for 55 packages and the CleverFlex having the capacity for 2,000. The SnapLock model would work well for office buildings, with the CleverFlex operating in public locations near apartment complexes. Cleveron’s click-and-collect parcel system first launched in 2016, and the company plans to expand the concept into other European countries and the United States. Simply Measured Research Points to Increase in Social Marketing’s Importance http://ift.tt/2u4dEoJ More important than ever. That’s what Simply Measured has to say about social marketing. A pioneer in social analytics, the company has just released its third annual “State of Social Marketing” report, which provides insights from more than 2,700 social media professionals in 111 countries—with the perspectives of both brands and agencies. “At the end of the day, your job as a marketer—any kind of marketer—is to sell. This is true even if you are tasked with increasing brand awareness and cultivating a community on social, as three-quarters of our survey respondents are,” said Scott Fallon, vice president of Marketing at Simply Measured. “It just means that your target market is closer to the top of the funnel. As more budget is devoted to social—social spending is expected to rise to 17.3 billion by 2019 —social marketers will be pressed to make the link between engagement and conversions. Social marketers won’t stop paying attention to engagement and amplification metrics, but they will be asked to set and meet conversion goals, too.” There is a severe gap here today: 90 percent of marketers surveyed struggle to measure ROI and/or tie social to business goals. The report positions 2017 as the year of contradictions, with social ad investment increasing, but a lack of industry-wide goal-setting, and more than half of brands saying that influencers are vital to the success of their social programs, but over 76 percent of brands saying they have no dedicated budget for influencer marketing. Agencies, however, are pushing for results from social more than brands: 73 percent of agencies set goals for either web traffic or conversion goals, while only 57 percent of brand marketers do. This indicates that social marketers at agencies have stronger goal-setting (and achieving) baselines than social marketers within the brand environment. “Whether brand or agency, social media is a foundational marketing strategy that—if properly tracked and analyzed—has the ability to impact the buyer’s journey at all stages in the funnel,” explains report author Lucy Hitz, head of Marketing Communications, Simply Measured. “However, marketers still find difficulty quantifying the impact of social media and are unsure of how to distribute resources to generate the most value from their social campaigns.” To learn more, check out the full report here. To test the technology’s effectiveness, the team pitted two groups against each other and had them acquire a new skill by different methods. The goal was simple: learn to brew coffee using an espresso machine. One of the groups would only watch YouTube videos about how to do it while the other went through virtual reality training. The group who went through the virtual training did make fewer mistakes and brewed their coffee faster; however, they still faced drawbacks. VR viewers did not understand certain aspects of how the machine worked, such as how to properly tamp down the coffee grounds into the espresso scoop or that they should be prepared to pull their hands away before the machine released hot steam. Daydream Labs detailed the process as a success in its blog post, but this was only one test. They plan to do others in the future and make the VR training more like a video game in which trainees have to follow a specific list of steps. RhythmOne Integrates With DoubleClick Exchange Bidding http://ift.tt/2u429Ok RhythmOne, a leading advertising technology company, has just announced that it is among the first to participate in Google’s open beta DoubleClick Exchange Bidding (EB) program. “Through the integration, RhythmOne will provide additional demand from its premium partners to hundreds of DoubleClick For Publishers (DFP) clients,” the company stated in an emailed announcement sent to MMW. Pursuing integration with DoubleClick EB reflects RhythmOne’s commitment to actively promote and participate in a competitive digital ecosystem that provides maximum monetization opportunities to web publishers and app developers. We’re told that the integration allows publishers using DFP to permit RhythmOne to submit real-time bids for their supply using industry-standard RTB calls. The bids submitted by RhythmOne will be considered alongside those from the DoubleClick AdX, the publisher’s reserved campaigns, and other EB partners to pick the highest-priced bid. “RhythmOne’s focus is to maximize demand for publishers’ inventory,” said Karim Rayes, Vice President of Publisher Development at RhythmOne. “Our integration with DoubleClick EB is another component of this commitment and allows us to provide publishers access via open-auction to our high-quality demand — giving them another monetization source to increase their yield and price on inventory.” The post RhythmOne Integrates With DoubleClick Exchange Bidding appeared first on Mobile Marketing Watch. To capture the movement from start to finish, the team attached a sensor to the bottom of the skateboard against the wheel’s frame, which relayed information to a computer. Since the data was rough, they smoothed out the motions and also added effects around the trick’s trail before developing it into a sculpture. The completed sculptures looks like numerous 3D-printed spaghetti noodles wrapped around each other in a fluid motion. Convivial Studio posted its entire process from start to finish on Instructables, where they say they want to map larger tricks in the future.
