The retailer has started testing automated helpers to monitor the stock of products on shelves
Walmart wants to make sure shelves stay stocked at all times with a new robot. The robot is programmed to detect when shelf stock gets too low and restock those products. During the day the robots roam the aisles, scanning all of the shelves. Walmart reports the robots perform this task 50% better than employees.
The robots allow employees not to have to worry about this routine, freeing them up to assist customers or tend to more important tasks. Walmart started testing the restocking robot at select stores located in Arkansas, Pennsylvania and California.
