The Switch version of the soccer-with-cars arena battler will roll out with exclusive vehicles based on iconic Nintendo characters Mario and Luigi as well as Metroid‘s Samus. It will also get similarly themed “toppers,” which are hats that players can use to decorate their cars. Rocket League has been hugely popular, garnering over 33 million players on the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. It also has a burgeoning esports scene that attracts a wide audience because of its easy accessibility. Players compete against each other in matches that range from heads-up 1-vs.-1 up to 4-vs.-4, jostling to see who can knock a giant soccer ball into the other team’s goal. The Switch has been a boon for Nintendo, driving 175 percent sales growth in half a year.
