This DSLR Camera Costume Wins at Halloween https://ift.tt/2zcs7Uk By day, Yohei Shimada is a Japanese commercial photographer. When Halloween rolls around, Shimada becomes Cameraaman, a human-sized, fully-functioning DSLR camera that roams the streets of Japan to photograph other costume-wearers.
Pressing the shutter button on the costume triggers an off-camera flash photo that’s instantly displayed on the camera’s LCD panel for the subjects to review. Seeing the camera costume in action causes a huge deal of excitement among passersby. Here are clips of Cameraaman in action followed by the group photos that resulted:
By the end of the evening, Cameraaman has run out of battery power:
Shimada debuted the Cameraaman costume in 2015 and has been shooting on the streets every Halloween since. He posts his photos to his Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts. MS Optics has developed the Sonnetar 73mm F1.5 FMC, a lightweight lens made for portraits https://ift.tt/2SvXjXC MS Optics, a niche optics manufacturer that operates in the basement of Miyazaki san's Chiba, Japan home, has developed yet another custom lens for Leica M-mount cameras, the Sonnetar 73mm F1.5 FMC. Inspired by his love for Zeiss' Sonnar lenses, Miyazaki san created this medium telephoto lens with a unique aesthetic and lightweight design that's perfect for portraiture. It's handmade with five elements in four groups and features a multi-coating on every surface for a 97.5% transmission rate. The lens measures in at 50mm/1.97in in diameter and 56.4mm/2.22in in length, and weighs just 197g/6.95oz. It uses an M49 filter and hood thread size and can focus from infinity to 0.8m/31.5in. Below are a collection of sample shots graciously provided by Bellamy Hunt of Japan Camera Hunter, shot with the Sonnetar 73mm F1.5 FMC on his Leica M6 with Japan Camera Hunter's own Streetpan film and filmed with a Canoscan 9000F. Japan Camera Hunter says the lens is still in development and will be available "from the end of October." As with all MS Optics lenses, numbers are very limited and delivery times are long due to the handmade nature of the lenses. Japan Camera Hunter is currently selling the Sonnetar 73mm F1.5 FMC for ¥140,000/USD$1,252 and says "this is [effectively] a pre-order for the lens with expected delivery around the middle of November." Eagle Wearing GoPro Captures Flight Through Packed Soccer Stadium https://ift.tt/2DccXmh GoPro shared this neat 1-minute video that was captured by an eagle wearing a GoPro HERO7 Black camera during a flight through a packed soccer stadium. GoPro’s new Hypersmooth movement prediction technology stabilized the video. “HyperSmooth is the best in-camera video stabilization ever featured in a camera,” GoPro stated at the HERO7 line’s unveiling in September. “It makes it easy to capture professional-looking, gimbal-like stabilized video without the expense or hassle of a motorized gimbal. And HyperSmooth works underwater and in high-shock and wind situations where gimbals fail.” The eagle above was flying through Estadio Azteca stadium in Mexico City’s Santa Úrsula neighborhood. Hasselblad XCD 80mm F1.9 sample galleryThe Hasselblad XCD 80mm F1.9 isn't just the fastest lens for the medium-format system, it's Hasselblad's fastest lens ever. It provides a view equivalent to 63mm on full-frame, making it a solid candidate for portraiture. DPReview contributor Damien Demolder put it to work recently – take a look at the results. Support DPReview. Shop with View Comments (0) Nikon's Coolpix P1000 has moved the zoom needle from 'absurd' to 'ludicrous,' with an equivalent focal length of 24-3000mm. While it's great for lunar and still wildlife photography, we found that it's not suited for much else. As a stills camera the Fujifilm X-T3 is a pleasant update to one of our favorite APS-C cameras, significantly improving the autofocus. If you're interested in stills and video, though, it's knockout.

Oct 16, 2018 at 13:17 The Nikon Z7 is slated as a mirrorless equivalent to the D850, but it can't subject track with the same reliability as its DSLR counterpart. AF performance is otherwise good, except in low light where hunting can lead to missed shots. The Canon EOS R is the first full frame mirrorless camera to use the new RF mount. We're well underway putting it through our range of standard tests – take a look at how it compares to the competition and our thoughts on using it so far. The-Digital-Picture has completed their review of the RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM for the Canon EOS R system. Compared to the EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II, Bryan found the RF version to be slightly sharper with less linear distortion, but it did show a bit more vignetting. The RF 24-105mm f/4L IS appears is a great option for an all-purpose lens for your EOS R, especially if you want the native mount.
You can buy the RF 24-105mm f/4L IS on its own, or part of a kit with the Canon EOS R body: Photography via Canon Rumors https://ift.tt/2v4dYqS October 30, 2018 at 07:53AM

6 Fundamental Composition Techniques That Will Improve Your Portraits https://ift.tt/2RrrE8n Humans can be one of the most interesting subjects to photograph because of their varied character and personality and when creating a portrait, just like any other genre of photography, you will need to give importance to composition in order to create visual impact and connection with the viewer. A portrait needs to convey the character and mood of the person and composing a portrait can be a bit tougher than you might think. In order to create engaging portraits and not snapshots, you need to have the skills and technical knowledge in making portraits. Here are six composition techniques that can be used to improve your portraits. 1. Place the Eyes on the Upper Third:You may all have heard about the basic rule that most photographers start with – the rule of thirds. In order to create a visual impact in your portraits, when shooting in portrait mode, it is best to have the eyes of the subject on the upper third of the frame. If you are shooting in landscape mode, then going by the rule of thirds, it is good to have the dominant eye of the subject on or near one of the vertical lines of the rule of thirds grid. 2. Fill the Frame:When making a portrait, you are capturing the character and features of the person. So do not hesitate to get close and fill the frame with your subject’s face. Do not limit yourself to just the headshots, but try filling the frame when you do head and shoulders shots, medium shots or three-quarter shots. 3. Frame your Subject With Frames Within the Frame:When making portraits, you do not have to eliminate or blur the background, instead use the elements like doors, windows, lines, etc. to frame the subject to keep the viewer's attention on your subject. You can also use elements like windows, doors, arches or any other natural or manmade structures in the foreground to frame your subject to create visually interesting images. 4. Use Lines to Lead the Viewer to your Subject:Lines are another interesting feature when it comes to composition for any genre of photography. They can be so powerful and be used to lead the viewer into the frame to your subject. 5. Leave Space in Front of the Subject:This is a very important technique that needs to be taken care of. If you are making a portrait where the subject is looking to one direction, then, always leave space in the direction your subject is looking into (in front of them) just like how you would leave space in the direction of movement of your subject. 6. Use a Different Angle or Perspective:Do not stop with just straight up shots at eye level, but change angles to show your subject from a totally different perspective. You can get higher or lower or move to the left or right of your subject to get the right composition and personality of your subject. It also helps avoid certain distracting elements behind or around your subject. These are some of the many composition techniques required to create stunning portraits, but with the techniques mentioned here, you can create beautiful well-composed portraits. Once you master these techniques, do not hesitate to break these techniques in a creative way. Further Resources:

DJI unveils Mavic 2 Enterprise, a commercial-oriented drone with modular accessories https://ift.tt/2qfWtkJ VIDEO DJI has unveiled the Mavic 2 Enterprise, a modular version of its Mavic 2 Zoom drone designed specifically for businesses, governments, educators and other professionals. At its core, The Mavic 2 Enterprise is effectively a Mavic 2 Zoom drone with a few tricks up its sleeve. It has the same 4K video capabilities, 2x optical zoom and 3x digital zoom, and 31-minute flight time. But in addition to the standard features, DJI has added a few unique features that will help it perform in more demanding environments. The battery inside The Mavic 2 Enterprise is "self-heating," which DJI says will enable it to operate at much cooler temperatures than your run-of-the-mill Mavic 2 Zoom. DJI has also beefed up storage, adding 24GB of storage, three times what the Mavic 2 Zoom offers. There's also new security features, including a GPS timestamping feature and a new password protection feature that will make users type in a code every time the drone is activated, accesses the onboard storage, or connect with the controller. To help with various needs such as search and rescue operations and inspections, DJI has also created three add-on accessories: The M2E Spotlight, the M2E Speaker, and the M2E Beacon. The M2E Spotlight is a 2,400-lumen dual spotlight designed to help "operators in carrying out missions in dark or low-light areas." The M2E Speaker is a 100-decibel loudspeaker that can have up to ten customized recordings for blaring in emergency situations. The The M2E Beacon is a strobe build with the FAA's Night Waiver standards in mind, meaning the drone will be visible up to three miles away, be it for other drone operators or pilots of manned aircrafts. The DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Universal Edition includes the drone, a remote controller, one battery, all three mountable accessories, and a protector case with flight tools. It's set to retail for $1,999 USD and is available through DJI Enterprise resellers around the world. To find out more information, head on over to DJI's product page. There is also an optional "Fly More Kit" that includes two batteries, a battery charging hub, a car charger, a USB connector, a soft case, and two propellers for $419 USD.
