To stop this wood from going to waste, Felix Böck created Chopvalue, a company that turns discarded chopsticks into home accessories and furniture. Böck, who attended the University of British Columbia as a forestry student, reached out to restaurants in the city to work with them on solving this problem. With their permission, he placed recycling bins in their establishments where customers could toss their used chopsticks. The bins get picked up and sent over the Chopvalue’s lab, where the contents are cleaned, coated in resin and hot-pressed to turn them into a flat material that Böck and others transform into various products. Over 800,000 chopsticks have been repurposed by Chopvalue since it was created in July 2016. Mobile Marketing via PSFK http://www.psfk.com/ June 30, 2017 at 05:03AM
