Forget version 2.0: Diesel’s new smartwatch is so advanced, it’s version 2.5 https://ift.tt/2BYZmPB Diesel has made some of the most distinctive fashion watches out there. If you wear the Mr. Daddy 2.0 watch, with its 57mm case, it’s obvious you’re not afraid to make a statement. We love the brand for this wrist-based madness, and were pleased some of it permeated into the design of the On Full Guard smartwatch, released in 2017. Now, Diesel’s back with the On Full Guard 2.5, its second full-touch smartwatch with Google’s Wear OS, and this time it’s more than just a pretty face. Technical jumpWe know what you’re thinking, did you miss the On Full Guard 2.0? Why is this called the On Full Guard 2.5? In an email to Digital Trends, Andrea Rosso, Diesel’s head of licensing, said it’s “because we made an incredible update on it, taking it to the next level, and we wanted to make it clear starting from the name.” Bold words. Can it live up to a statement like that? Let’s look at the specification. The 1.39-inch screen has a 454 x 454 pixel resolution, displaying Google’s Wear OS operating system, and powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 2100, 512MB of RAM, and 4GB of internal storage. This is the same as the first On Full Guard, and the alterations come with the addition of a heart rate sensor, on-board GPS, NFC, and a high degree of water resistance. The battery also has a one-hour quick charge feature, and is expected to last for a day. Two of these features are standouts for Rosso. “I am particularly happy of our NFC payment technology, and also of our swim-proof technology that allows you to shower, swim, and dive up to 3 ATM, [while wearing the watch.]” The first On Full Guard, like most fashion-inspired smartwatches of its time, was relatively light on technology. Adding new features to the sequel, Rosso intimated, was essential. “In general, I’m proud that now our wearable technology and features match our bold design, and make us competitive in the wearables market.” Diesel designThe On Full Guard 2.5 is a typical Diesel watch, in that the case is large at 45.5mm and just over 11mm thick. The design is not drastically different from the first On Full Guard — check out the oversize buttons and crown, the big horns, and the chiseled looks — and crucially takes plenty of inspiration from traditional Diesel watches. “The sculptured shape is one of our key features, something from a traditional watch that we have applied to the new smartwatch as well,” Rosso said. Interestingly, little was fundamentally changed from a traditional watch to create a smartwatch, as Rosso said the team just “adapted the dimensions to fit the circular touchscreen, and reduced weight to compensate” for the heavy digital parts. While the Diesel On Full Guard 2.5 is made from the same basic materials as the first, including leather, metal, and rubber, Rosso revealed Diesel is “exploring new materials for upcoming watches.” One size fits allWhen you see the On Full Guard 2.5, it’s impossible to ignore its size, and how it’s likely unsuitable for those with small wrists. We asked Rosso if there was interest or discussion in making smaller watches, particularly for women. His answer was surprising, and gave us an insight into how the watch industry differs around the world. “We’re constantly talking to our customers to make sure our products align with their needs,” Rosso said. “We found out that many female customers, especially in the Asian market, wear bigger watches [even the aforementioned 56mm Mr. Daddy watch, apparently], despite having smaller wrists.” The decision to not make a specifically female-friendly smartwatch, at least not yet, seems to be because the brand’s signature style appeals across the board. “When designing our Diesel watches, we design them for the Diesel customer, whether that’s male or female,” Rosso continued. “In fact, some watch designs that would traditionally be considered for men, have female design elements into them, and vice versa.” PersonalizationOne design aspect we loved on the first On Full Guard were the iridescent watch faces. What can we expect from the On Full Guard 2.5? Rosso said the most exciting new watch face is the neon Flicker dial, “which changes color automatically throughout the day,” as well as the interactive heart rate dial, “which creates a rippling water effect with the tap of a finger.” The new On Full Guard 2.5 smartwatch will come in four styles, a matte steel with black leather strap, a gunmetal case with a brown strap, a matte black steel case with a black silicone strap, and finally a gunmetal steel case with a three-link gunmetal bracelet. All On Full Guard 2.5 watches cost $325, apart from the gunmetal version with the metal link bracelet, which costs $350. You’ll be able to buy the new Diesel On Full Guard 2.5 from October. While the On Full Guard 2.5 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Wear 2100 processor, there are rumors Qualcomm will finally unveil a new successor to the processor that should provide much improved battery life and other features, and we’ll likely learn more at Qualcomm’s September 10 event.

Even those with (slightly) smaller wrists can wear Casio’s new Pro Trek watch https://ift.tt/2woEHPy Casio continues to refine its Pro Trek smartwatch, which is made for those who like nothing more than spending their weekends lost on top of mountains. The company just unveiled the third version — the Pro Trek WSD-F30. For the new model, it has made the case slightly smaller, made the display even more versatile, and added a convenient new feature to its extended battery mode. The Pro Trek was one of the first Wear OS smartwatches to extend the battery life of the device by turning off the operating system, so it could function simply as a watch. Known as Timepiece Mode on previous Pro Trek smartwatches, the WSD-F30 introduces Multi Timepiece Mode, which adds complication-style features to the monochrome-only time display. For example, it will show altitude and atmospheric pressure alongside the time, on a power-sipping monochrome display, to help hikers. With Multi Timepiece Mode active, the battery life stretches out to a month. This isn’t the only interesting battery-saving feature. A new Extend Mode fits somewhere in-between Multi Timepiece Mode and the full Wear OS experience, showing the time, altitude, and atmospheric data, plus a color map can be called up with a button tap. The map shows on the F30’s main OLED screen, which also shows Google’s Wear OS operating system, however for Extend Mode Wear OS is put to sleep to conserve energy, resulting in three days battery use while still viewing offline maps. Cleverly, Extend Mode can be scheduled based on your plans for trips away. Smaller, but only slightlyHow much smaller is the F30 compared to the F20 and F10? This is still a Pro Trek watch, so it’s never going to be small and subtle, but Casio has still shaved 3.9mm off the width and 0.4mm off the thickness. This means the Pro Trek F30 still measures 60mm wide, 53mm tall, and 14.9mm thick. Small it’s not, but it is potentially more manageable than before. The case is made from resin with a special metal-like coating, and the strap has been revised too, adding more holes for an improved fit. The whole thing meets MIL-STD-810G standards for toughness. The dual-layer color OLED, which has a 390 x 390 pixel resolution, and monochrome LCD display measures 1.2-inches. The F30 has GPS, and enough storage for five different offline versions, along with sensors for air pressure and altitude, a compass, an accelerometer, a gyroscope, and a magnetometer. The battery doesn’t have fast charging like we’ve seen on some new Wear OS smartwatches this year, so it will take around three hours to charge, and should return around a day-and-a-half of use, according to Casio. Casio has several app partnerships suited to those with active lifestyles, and will also introduce a new watch face called Frontier on the WSD-F30. These apps include ViewRanger for mapping, Hole19 that maps 42,000 golf course around the world, the surfing app Glassy, fishing forecast app Fishbrain, MySwimPro for personalised swim training and analytics, equestrian app Equilab, Exercise Timer, Ski Tracks, and fun fitness game Zombies, Run!. Several will add custom features to the WSD-F30. Glassy adds voice commands and custom feature options for the hardware buttons, ideal for when surfers have wet hands. Fishbrain will add voice commands to see nearby waters and the fish that swim there. Zombies, Run! will allow control of the app on the watch, and Ski Tracks will also operate independently on the Pro Trek WSD-F30. Three models will be available, in orange, blue, and black. At its launch event, Casio did not reveal the release date or the price. The WSD-F20 costs $500, so we don’t expect the F30 to be much cheaper.

The ‘Destiny 2: Forsaken’ Annual Pass shows Bungie isn’t messing around https://ift.tt/2wqQvRt Destiny 2: Forsaken -- the first major expansion to the 2017 multiplayer shooter — is out next week, but the launch doesn’t represent the end of new content for the game. With the Destiny 2: Forsaken Annual Pass, Bungie will be continuously releasing new content through next summer, and it should help to keep the game feeling fresh for dedicated players. Load up Destiny 2 right now and you’ll be able to check out the new Heroic difficulty story missions, enjoy an increase in your vault storage space, and examine changes to milestones and challenges, and updates to the sandbox. On September 1, all players will be able to preview the Gambit multiplayer mode, which combines elements of competitive and cooperative play together for the first time ever. Forsaken‘s new raid, “Last Wish,” will follow on September 14 for those who bought the expansion, and all players will gain access to the Iron Banner and the new map “The Convergence” on September 18, as well as the “Breakthrough” mode on September 25. Beginning in December, those who purchase the Annual Pass will get access to content unavailable to other players. This includes access to the new Black Armory area, as well as new exotic and legendary gear, and a new raid lair. Next spring, the “Joker’s Wild” Annual Pass update will include a new version of Gambit, new gear, new challenges, and a new open-world activity. The Annual Pass content will conclude at some point next summer with the “Penumbra” update, which will include new open-world content, a new raid lair, and new gear. Free updates won’t be eliminated as part of the Annual Pass program. Alongside the paid content, all players will get access to new weapons and multiplayer content, as well as the Iron Banner and seasonal ranks. If Forsaken is the last thing you want to spend money on in Destiny 2, you’ll still have plenty to play. Destiny 2: Forsaken is out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on September 4. The Annual Pass is available separately for $35, and a bundle containing both the expansion and the pass is available for $70. As the expansion costs $40 on its own, you can save a few bucks this way.

Nintendo’s next mobile game arrives September 27 https://ift.tt/2NrQ1Rr Nintendo was slow on the draw to enter the mobile market, but now that the company’s in, the titles are starting to come at pretty steady clip. The gaming giant’s got another RPG arriving on Android and iOS September 27. We don’t know a ton about Dragalia Lost at the moment. The title was announced back in April, and the company plans to shed more light on the game during a Mobile Direct event tonight. That will be streamed live via the YouTube video right here: The RPG was developed by Cygames, a Japanese studio behind titles like, Granblue Fantasy, the hugely popular cross-platform title featuring art direction by Final Fantasy’s Hideo Minaba. Nintendo also acquired a chunk of stock in the studio, which bodes well for future collaborations between the two. Nintendo describes the title as “a vast multiplayer action RPG” with a bunch of dragons. Even more importantly, it will be free to play, marking a shift in strategy from earlier titles like Super Mario Run, which proved something of a sales disappointment for the company. Digital Trends via TechCrunch https://techcrunch.com August 29, 2018 at 11:09AM A Fight Over Killing Bobcats Is Raging Across the Midwest https://ift.tt/2MBeLL0 This past spring, Ohio found itself at the epicenter of a fight over a long-lost predator that’s quietly making inroads across the Midwest: the bobcat. A controversial bobcat hunting proposal came to a head in May when sportsmen organizations squared off with conservationists over whether the population had rebounded enough to support a limited trapping season of up to 60 animals, something the Ohio Department of Natural Resources first proposed back in February. At present, 40 states allow the killing of bobcats. “There’s enough there,” Keith Daniels from the Ohio State Trappers Association toldthe Columbus Dispatch in March. “We don’t want to see a resource go to waste just because someone thinks we shouldn’t.” But the state’s proposal, which came less than four years after Ohio removed bobcats from the endangered list, was met with vocal opposition from conservationists and activists. Some opponents pointed out that Ohio’s bobcats have only recently showed signs of recovery, while their overall numbers throughout the state remain unknown. Others worried that even a limited hunting season could get out of hand quickly. “I have no doubt that the statewide quota would be exceeded on the first or second day,” Suzanne Prange, director of the Appalachian Wildlife Research Institute and opponent of the plan, told Earther, noting that the state was only planning to charge trappers $5 per hunting permit. “My biggest fear was how much it might be exceeded by the time the state could halt the season. They could seriously hurt the population before the season could be stopped.” It’s a microcosm of a fight that’s raging out across the Midwest, where the bobcat has made an extraordinary comeback in recent decades, largely to the credit of state wildlife management agencies and reforestation efforts. But as is the case with other recovering carnivores like Yellowstone’s grizzly bears, there remains vehement disagreement over whether these animals are ready for humans to start hunting them again. Advertisement Advertisement An elusive 20 to 30 pound creature known for its distinctive bobbed tail, bobcats historically ranged across a vast swath of North America from northern Mexico to southern Canada. But hunting and trapping, along with the conversion of forests to farmland and the subsequent decline of their prey, took a serious toll on these predators. By the early 1900s, bobcats were virtually extirpated from the Midwest and parts of the eastern United States. “In many states, bobcats were driven to the brink of extinction–or even completely extirpated in some areas–due to loss of habitat, over-hunting, and trapping,” Samantha Hagio, director of wildlife protection at the Humane Society of the United States, told Earther. But around the same time that bobcats were vanishing, policy shifts were setting the stage for their eventual rebound. David McNitt, a grad student at Virginia Tech who focuses his research on bobcats, observed that with the creation of the National Forest System in the early 1900s, the bobcat was provided “large swaths of habitat to act as population refuges.” With the introduction of state agency regulations surrounding hunting and trapping in the decades that followed, the big cat began to re-colonize much of its native distribution. By the late 1990s, bobcats were increasing “throughout the majority of their range,” according to a detailed national survey released in 2010. Even in the Midwest, where, as McNitt observed, public lands are scarce and landscapes are “dominated with monoculture farms” bobcat numbers have appeared to improve just enough to have their conservation status downgraded. Advertisement Advertisement Bobcats were removed from Illinois’ list of threatened species in 1999, and they were taken off Indiana’s endangered list in 2005. By 2007, Iowa’s once-endangered bobcats had recovered enough to support limited hunting seasons. In Ohio, bobcats were downgraded from endangered to threatened in 2012 and removed from the endangered species list altogether in 2014. But despite the general upward trend of bobcat numbers (as of 2010, the total US population sat somewhere between 2.3 and 3.6 million), some experts have cautioned that populations may still remain at risk. “Local threats may decrease population success through time,” Imogene Cancellare, a wildlife biologist at the University of Delaware, told Earther. “Not all populations in the United States are stable, or growing.” During the impassioned debate in Ohio over whether to allow trapping, proponents argued that a 60-bobcat cap wouldn’t put the animal’s numbers at risk. The state Department of Natural Resources agreed. “We’re confident the population is secure. We’re not trying to reduce the number of bobcats,” Mike Reynolds, Wildlife Research Administrator for the ODNR Division of Wildlife told theDispatch in March. But ultimately, in May, the Ohio Wildlife Council felt that there wasn’t enough information to make a determination either way. By a 6 to 1 vote, the council decided to delay the proposed trapping season until there was more definitive data showing a “thriving population”. One member of the council suggested waiting until after a four-year population study—currently underway by Viorel Popescu and wildlife researchers at Ohio University—was completed. Advertisement Advertisement The debate over whether to allow bobcat harvesting is not confined to Ohio. In May, a proposal to open bobcat hunting and trapping in Indiana was shot down by the Indiana Natural Resources Commission after more than 1,300 citizens reportedly spoke out in opposition during the public comment period. Similar debates are playing out with other wild carnivores—albeit significantly more threatened ones—such as the grizzly bear. In May, Wyoming’s Game and Fish Commission voted unanimously to allow the hunting of up to 22 grizzly bears this fall. The decision was met with fierce blowback from conservationists, so much so that a district court could reverse it this week. More and more states are allowing gray wolves to be hunted as populations recover, but those hunts remain equally controversial. For bobcats, recent battles over opening hunting seasons have mostly taken place on the state level. But with the Trump administration weakening wildlife protections for threatened and endangered species and increasing certain privileges for hunters (not to mention Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke proudly tweeting a photo of the stuffed bobcat in his office), it’s possible that the federal government could soon join the fray. The future for the elusive cats, while brighter than it once was, remains tinged with uncertainty. James Crugnale is an environmental journalist from Brooklyn. Sonos releases new speaker Amp, partners with Sonance for in-wall speakers https://ift.tt/2POgt9O Sonos is doubling down on the custom in-home audio market with new products and partnerships. The company today announced a new version of the Sonos Amp and a partnership with Sonance that will result in three architectural speakers — in-wall, in-ceiling and outdoor — that Sonos says will gain additional functionality when paired with a Sonos system. Sonos is also announcing upcoming Control APIs that the company says will make it easier to integrate Sonos into the ever-evolving smart home. This jibes with Sonos’ long-standing approach of working with other platforms to offer its customers as many services as possible.
The Amp replaces the Connect:Amp. The new version is more powerful, works with more platforms and is more expensive at $599 rather than $499. This new version outputs 125 watts per channel at 8 ohms; it can power four speakers instead of two. The additional power makes the Amp more versatile than its predecessor, too. Sonos says the Amp can be used to add stereo sound to a TV (thanks in part to HDMI Arc support) or add wireless rears to a Sonos theater setup. Or, two Amps can be used to add a complete surround sound system. Multiple Amp units can be stacked or mounted in a rack. The Amp works with AirPlay 2 and with Alexa when used in conjunction with an Amazon Alexa-enabled Sonos device like a Sonos One or Beam. With a product like the Amp, Sonos has a new offering for those customers looking to integrate the convenient Sonos line into their high-end home theater setup. That’s a serious market, too, and the company’s new partnership with Sonance shows Sonos is committed to addressing the home audio enthusiast while building products to compete with Apple and Amazon. Together, they will produce in-wall speakers that when used with a Sonos Amp will offer additional functionality. The company stopped short of detailing the added functionality. These speakers are set for an early 2019 release. This is Sonos’ first large announcement after going public on August 2. Box builds a digital hub to help fight content fragmentation https://ift.tt/2POgric The interconnectedness of the cloud has allowed us to share content widely with people inside and outside the organization and across different applications, but that ability has created a problem of its own, a kind of digital fragmentation. How do you track how that piece of content is being used across a range of cloud services? It’s a problem Box wants to solve with its latest features, Activity Stream and Recommended Apps. The company made the announcements at BoxWorks, its annual customer conference being held this week in San Francisco, Activity Stream provides a way to track your content in real time as it moves through the organization, including who touches it and what applications it’s used in, acting as a kind of digital audit trail. One of the big problems with content in the cloud age is understanding what happened to it after you created it. Did it get used in Salesforce or ServiceNow or Slack? You can now follow the path of your content and see how people have shared it, and this could help remove some of the disconnect people feel in the digital world. As Jeetu Patel, Box’s Chief Product and Chief Strategy Officer points out, an average large company could have more than a thousand apps and there is no good way to connect the dots when it comes to tracking unstructured content and getting a unified view of the digital trail. “We integrate with over 1400 applications, and as we integrate with those applications, we thought if we could surface those events, it would be insanely useful to our users,” he said. Patel sees this as the beginning of an important construct, the notion of a content hub where you can see the entire transaction record associated with a piece of content. But Box didn’t want to stop with just a laundry list of the connections. It also created deep links into the applications being used, so a user can click a link, open the application and view the content in the context of that other application. “It seems like Box was a logical place to get a bird’s eye view of how content is being used,” Patel said, explaining Box’s thinking in creating this feature. A related feature is a list of Recommended Apps. Based the Box Graph, and what Box knows about the user, the content they use, and how it’s interconnected with other cloud apps, it also displays a list of recommended apps right in the Box interface. This lets users access those applications in the context of their work, so for instance, they could share the content in Slack right from the document. For starters, Recommended Apps integrations include G Suite apps, Slack, Salesforce, DocuSign and Netsuite, but Patel says anyone who is integrated with the web app via the API will start showing up in Activity Stream. While the products were announced today, Box is still working out the kinks in terms of how this will work. They expect these features to be available early next year. If they can pull this off, it will go a long way toward solving the digital fragmentation problem and making Box the content center for organizations. Changing gears, the last item in the sale is a Bluetooth receiver that plugs into your car’s AUX jack, allowing you to wirelessly stream audio to older stereos. My wife has this one, and it works great. While not as wide-ranging as yesterday’s sitewide sale, today’s 20% eBay discount actually offers better savings, if the product you’re buying is sold by one of over 100 select sellers (listed at the bottom of this page). Advertisement Anything from those sellers is eligible when you use promo code JUSTRELAX, but you have to spend $25, and your discount is capped at $50. Need help getting started? Here are our favorite retailers that are included: Vacuuming is simultaneously the worst chore, and the chore most easily pawned off to a robot. How convenient! Advertisement While it lacks the brand recognition of a Roomba, this ECOVACS N79S vacuum is the follow-up to the well-reviewed N79, its main addition being Alexa support. That means in addition to setting schedules and controlling the vacuum with your phone, you can now shout into the void that you’d like your floor vacuumed, and some combination of AI, voice recognition, and robotics will work in unison to make it happen. What a world. Just use promo code 9OPVPMN2 at checkout to save $50, bringing it down to the best price we’ve ever seen. Mason jar glasses are very trendy right now, and you can pretend like you’re always at an expensive brunch with this 8-glass set for $10, complete with handles. They work with standard mason jar lids too, so you can use them for storage when you aren’t using them for drinking. What should your next purchase be after buying mason jar glasses? Both can optionally be used with essential oils as well, to make your room smell nicer. Despite the proliferation of affordable smart outlet switches over the past couple of years, we haven’t seen many weatherproof options yet, and we’ve seen even fewer models with multiple outlets that can be controlled separately. This $25 option from iClever though has both of those features, and can be controlled with your phone, your voice assistant, or even IFTTT. Just be sure to use promo code WIFIPLUG23 at checkout to save a few bucks. While it won’t keep ice frozen for a week like more expensive coolers, this 70 quart Coleman will keep a lot of drinks cold for at least a day, and Walmart’s offering a terrific deal on it today. Advertisement For $45, you’ll get the cooler and two Ozark Trail 30 ounce tumblers that can keep drinks cold all day long. The cooler by itself is currently selling for $43, so you’re basically getting those tumblers for less than $1 each, which is a complete no-brainer. If your favorite shower products don’t come in travel sized bottles, these reusable silicone bottles are the solution. Use promo code 8HKZFFUT at checkout to get a set of four for just $4. If you have any fall travel plans, or just feel like making some new ones on a whim, JetBlue is currently taking 20% off award flights from September 17-November 6, when you book with points by this Wednesday. Advertisement The deal isn’t valid for Friday or Sunday travel, but otherwise, it should work on any JetBlue flight during the promotional window. JetBlue’s search tool will show you the discounted rated by default, so you won’t have to go through to checkout to see how many points you need. Don’t have enough TrueBlue points in your account to take advantage? It just so happens that Chase just added JetBlue as a transfer partner, so it should be really easy Sapphire Reserve and Preferred cardholders to top up their accounts. As we wrote here, transferring points doesn’t usually make sense, but you’ll definitely come out ahead with these discounted redemption rates. If you’re hooked on smooth, caffeine-rich cold brew coffee, you can save a lot of money by making it at home, and KitchenAid’s brewer is the nicest looking option we’ve seen. Advertisement Just put coarse coffee grounds in the hopper, add water, and take the grounds out after a day or so. The entire assembly can live in your fridge, and each batch results in 28 ounces of coffee concentrate, which is good for 14 servings if you dilute it properly. $65 is a solid $12-$15 less than usual, and an all-time low, so don’t sleep on it. Summer’s not over yet, and you can take full advantage with Walmart’s massive patio clearance sale. Grills, storage boxes, and lots of patio furniture are included, most with free shipping available. Beyond the standard $50 discounts you hear about in the middle of every podcast, Casper mattresses don’t go on sale often, and Casper accessory deals are even rarer. But this weekend only, Casper’s 10% Labor Day sitewide saleholds the promise of serious savings, if you still haven’t gotten rid of that old coil spring. Advertisement To get this deal, you have to buy a mattress (sorry, dog mattresses don’t count), so you can’t take advantage if you’re only shopping for accessories. But 10% savings on a standard Casper mattress works out to nearly $100 on a queen, or as much as $240 on the new, advanced Wave mattress. Just use promo code SLUMBER10 at checkout to see the savings stack up. Thousands of our readers have bought Bowflex’s adjustable SelectTech dumbbells, and you can put them in your own home gym today for $249. Advertisement That’s a decent chunk of change, but they barely take up any space, each dumbbell can go up to 52.5 pounds (apologies to your delivery driver) and make it more likely that you’ll work out this winter when it’s too cold to go to the gym. They’ve been cheaper before, most notably last April, when Amazon and Walmart got into a bizarre automated price war, but this is still the best price we’ve seen since February. At this point, it’s continuously warm enough to hike (though sometimes a little too warm), and Marmot is thinking about getting you geared up and outside for less. It just met that threshold in this YouTube test, even when it was left outside in the hot sun. Best Media DealsThe Office, an excellent Jack Ryan prequel show, is on Netflix at the moment, but there’s no guarantee that will always be the case. If you’d prefer to own it outright, Amazon’s running a Dundie Award-winning deal today. Every season of the show is priced at just $5 for Prime members. Advertisement You won’t see that price on this page; you’ll have to click through to the individual season while you’re signed into a Prime account. They have books on programming and theory for machine learning. As usual, they’re split among three different price tiers, and you can get them all for as little as $15. Breath of the Wild is one of the greatest games ever made, so we’ll forgive Nintendo for spiking the football with a ~400 page hardcover compendium full of design artwork, commentary about the game’s development, and a history of the Breath of the Wild’s take on Hyrule. Advertisement The book doesn’t come out until November, but you can preorder it today for $24, or $16 off. Plus, if it gets any cheaper between now and release day, you’ll automatically get the best price. Best Gaming DealsAmazon Prime’s 20% video game preorder discount is no more, may it rest in peace. But it’s been replaced by $10 Amazon credit on select video games, and now, we know which ones. Bookmark this page so you can find more eligible games as they add them. Advertisement It’s actually not all bad news! For example, FIFA 19 has only ever been available to preorder as a digital download, meaning it was never eligible for the 20% discount. But if you have Prime, it is eligible for the $10 credit. However, the physical copy of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is eligible for the $10, but the digital download is not. You’ll want to scroll down on each game’s page to make sure this language is present in the “special offers and product promotions section.” This was taken from the Smash page, and as written, it seems like it should work on the digital download, but once you actually switch over to the digital version’s product page, this bullet point disappears. Board games, when translated well, can make for really great video games, and a bunch of digital tabletop adaptations are included in the latest Humble Bundle. Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Mario Tennis Aces are all marked down to $45. Still need a Switch? The best deal running right now is the console plus the Labo kit of your choice for $339, a savings of up to $40. When these 3/4-sized Arcade1Up arcade cabinets first went on preorder for $299, we thought it was a mistake, since they were supposed to cost $399. At this point though, it seems clear that $299 is in fact what they now cost, but inventory is still limited, since they were out of stock for awhile. Advertisement Anyway, they’re all back now, and they’re still $299, so if you want one, now’s your chance. TechStoragePower
